  Nepal is a developing country. In order to increase the pace of development the Government of Nepal took a decision in 1993 to promote medical education and health care in relatively remote and underdeveloped area of Nepal. As a part of that program permission was granted to Lord Buddha Educational Academy (LBEA) , Nepal to start a Medical College in a rural set up near Nepalgunj, a town in the midwestern region of Nepal only 6 K.M. away from the Nepal- India Border.

The project was undertaken and it was decided to name the college decided to name the proposed Medical College as Nepalgunj Medical College. The college derives its name from Nepalgunj , a major border town of Nepal. Following Nepal Government’s permission the LBEA decided to start the Medical College n 1996. A request was sent to Kathmandu University, Nepal in 1997 for granting affiliation to our College, which was promptly granted.

 

           Nepalgunj Medical College was established under the law of Nepal, in private sector, in 1996 and the first Batch of students was admitted in December 1997. the College is affiliated to Kathmandu University and approved and recognized by the Nepal Medical council and the Government of Nepal. The first Batch has graduated [in July 2002] and the internship has been completed in the first week of September 2005. the fourth batch has begun their Internship program from 17th August 2005. The present annual intake of this College is 100 students per annum.

The  Basic Medical Sciences Campus is Located at Chisapani, Banke . The Campus is located in a sprawling  60 acres of land ,completely self contained complex , with its water supply , electricity generators and housing facilities: the set up is totally residential for teachers and students. All together there are seven laboratories in the subjects of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry , Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Community Medicine along with Anatomy Museum, pathology Museum, Mortuary for storage of dead bodies, Multi Media Laboratory Examination Hall and lecture theaters and the Library. These facilities are used for the integrated system based thatching of all seven subjects during the first tow years of the course as per the Curriculum of Kathmandu University.
