Regarding Evaluation & Examination

According to the University rules a student can not appear more than 4 times (1^st attempt + 3 supplementary) for any given subject of University Examination. University will not allow to continue medical studies further. If students fails in more than 50% subjects of any university exam has to repeat all subjects of that exam

Students must attend all classes to achieve better result. However if practical & tutorial classes left must be reworked out at his/ her leisure time (between 5:00-7:00 PM & holidays) with the Department concerned otherwise will not be allowed to appear in the examinations. The students are required to have at least 75% attendance in Lecture & 85% in practical classes, failing which they will not be allowed to appear in the University examination.

If student obtains below 40% marks in internal assessment (theory & practical separately) they will not be eligible to appear in the university exams.

Kathmandu University-Norms and standards for MBBS Programme

• Completed 17 years of age and
• Completed 10+2 years of education or intermediate of science or equivalent, with Biology, Physics and chemistry as main subjects and he/she must have passed in all the subjects mentioned above, securing not less than 50% of marks in the subjects mentioned above put together also obtain an aggregate of 50% overall

Completed B.Sc. degree recognized by the university with one of the following subjects viz. Physics, chemistry, biology and at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the ancillary level and he/she should have scored not less than aggregate of 50% marks; provided that such candidate shall have passed the earlier qualifying examination ( 10+2 or an equivalent examination ) with the subjects physics, chemistry, biology and English.

Registration

 A candidate admitted to the course in the university medical school or any of the affiliated medical colleges shall register with the university by remitting the prescribed fee along with the application from for registration duly filled in and forwarded to the university through the dean of the school or the principal of the affiliated college within the stipulated date.

Selection

a. Kathmandu university Medical Etrance Test ( KUMET) for Nepali citizens followed by interview at NGMC under  self financing scheme.

b. Interview for international candidates by Nepalgunj Medical College under self financing scheme.

Duration of Course

It shall be a minimum of four and half years, and one year compulsory internship after passing the final MBBS examination;

a. First two year shall comprise of study of Part 1 : Basic Medical science subject.

b. The remaining two and half years shall be devoted to part II : clinical science. No student shall be permitted to join the part II : clinical sciences until s/he has passed part I.
